The small towns and villages in the Kitchener and Stratford area are known for their big stone houses, acres of rolling meadows and grasses, and breathtaking farm country.
When Hannah and Kaleb informed me that their wedding would take place on Kaleb’s family farm, I instantly was soooo excited! Y’all know how much I love those farm weddings! Even better, the property has been in their family for several generations. What better place for Kaleb and Hannah to get married than that? Their Farm Wedding Kitchener celebration turned out to be truly one for the books!
The Farm
While I expected typical farm-like scenery when I arrived in the morning, I actually saw something dream-like. A hilly field with hip-high wildflowers stretched beyond the yard of their centuries-old home. An old stone foundation and a barn silo tucked behind cedar trees added so much character. In addition, pathways winding through the fields felt like something straight out of Anne of Green Gables!
Hannah and Kaleb designed a wedding that was as simple as it was beautiful. Theresa Brouwer’s florals impressed everyone, and the blue thistle in the bouquets perfectly matched Hannah’s bridesmaids’ dresses. Meanwhile, Kaleb and his groomsmen looked dapper in their white rose boutonnieres.
Their wedding day happened to be the hottest one we’ve had so far this year—40 degrees with humidity and no breeze! Thankfully, Hannah’s gown from David’s Bridal was lightweight and perfect for the weather. She got ready inside the house, while Kaleb dressed at his great-grandmother’s home on the other side of the farm.
As their invitations promised, their Farm Wedding Kitchener celebration was “Nothing Fancy, Just Love.”
The couple shared their first look in the garden near the front porch of the house, which they specifically requested when we met up before the wedding day. Afterward, we captured wedding party photos, family pictures, and then it was time for the ceremony. You’ll love the sweetness that happened next!
The Ceremony
Kaleb’s grandmother and great-grandmother proudly took on the role of “Flower Princesses.” They scattered petals down the aisle with so much joy! Honestly, I think we should ask our grandmothers more often to have the honour of being Flower Girls. Just look at those smiles!
Hannah and Kaleb’s vows were emotionally raw and beautiful. After being together for eight years, their love for each other shone through every word. Hannah became so choked up while speaking her vows that she could barely finish a sentence. Each time she looked at Kaleb, her tears started again.
These two are the sweetest couple, and I feel so lucky to have spent time with them over the past year and a half. Moreover, I can’t wait to see how they continue to grow together and fall even more in love. Their Farm Wedding Kitchener day will always bring a big smile to my face.
Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Ives!
